42 Málaga, the revolutionary training of the future in the present
42 Málaga is a programming campus whose methodology is ranked among the TOP 10 most innovative universities in the world and has been recognized for its ethical values, ahead of even Harvard, Yale, or Columbia.
The Campus
The Málaga campus is the fourth to be established in Spain (after Madrid, Urduliz -Bizkaia- and Barcelona), opened its doors on February 7, 2022, and began its first official course with the first 172 students selected in April of the same year, after two prior “pool” periods in which more than 4,000 applications were counted.
Facilities
Located within the facilities of The Pole in Málaga, it spans 2,400 m2, with a capacity for 600 students and 210 computers. 42 Málaga is in-person and free of charge, open 24/7, and follows an innovative project-based methodology that uses gamification and peer learning, where students learn at their own pace, collaboratively from each other.
At 42 Málaga, students learn how to learn, not only in technical skills but also in developing abilities such as perseverance, frustration tolerance, resilience, and teamwork, which are highly valued and fundamental for any company today.
This initiative is driven by Fundación Telefónica, the Málaga City Council, and the Andalusian Government, in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Málaga.
Methodology
42 Málaga Fundación Telefónica is one of the free projects aimed at preparing people for the jobs currently in demand. The 42 Málaga programming campus is:
• A free learning method, open to people over 18 with no prior requirements or knowledge, and completely disruptive compared to the traditional educational model.
• A place that opens the door to peer-based training, with no teachers, books, or classes.
• A model focused on training students in both digital skills, the most demanded today, and what are known as ‘soft skills’: resilience and adaptability, frustration tolerance, creativity, and most importantly, teamwork, among many others.
But 42 is much more than a campus for learning programming.
It is a philosophy, a revolution that breaks all educational paradigms. At 42 Málaga, students are the protagonists of their own learning (step-by-step and free). The campus provides the necessary tools to face all the technological changes any person encounters throughout their career. At 42, we ‘learn to learn,’ developing the ability to adapt and find solutions to problems based on current knowledge and tools. But it’s not just about learning programming, cybersecurity, design, blockchain, etc., but also communication, leadership, frustration tolerance, teamwork…
Employability
With an average duration of three years, students are prepared to work in the current job market thanks to a method that has shown such successful results as 100% employability or an average of eight job offers per student during their time in the program.
