
MÁLAGAJAM, THE LARGEST 'GAMER' MARATHON IN SPAIN, CLOSES ITS XVI EDITION WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF 52 VIDEO GAMES
El National Pole of Digital Content located in Tabacalera, this weekend hosted the sixteenth in-person edition of the 'MálagaJam Weekend', the largest headquarters in Spain of the Global Game Jam for seven consecutive years, in which the participants created video games in two days of coexistence and creativity.
This is an initiative promoted by the AMalaga town hall which has a large and growing community, which has brought together 250 participants from Malaga and other parts of Spain who have developed a total of 52 games in one weekend. In addition, 'Malagajam Weekend' has broadcast parts of the event on the channel Twitch of the MalagaJam association in https://www.twitch.tv/malagajam with interviews with participants and collaborators with Marta García Villar y Jen Herranz, recognized presenters in the video game industry.
Programmers, musicians, designers, creators, writers and artists of any age or experience have come together to create a game against the clock in just the 48 hours that the days last. All projects have revolved around the theme chosen by the organization: "In the end of the world". The objective of this meeting is to form a community, have fun and promote talent, industry and culture, connecting the local community of developers and entrepreneurs in the video game sector.
That's it LGTB + friendly, promoting the gender, racial, functional and sexual orientation diversity. It has the collaboration of associations such as Femdevs and Gaymer, who were present to advise on issues of representation of gender diversity or sexual orientation, rewarding at the end of the event the games with the best representation.
48 HOURS DEVELOPING VIDEO GAMES AND WITH TALKS ABOUT THE VIDEO GAME INDUSTRY
This edition, 'MálagaJam Weekend 16' held its program Deluxe Chats in advance at the facilities of the National Pole of Digital Content, with presentations from different video game studios. Andrea Latorre (Cream Games), Eva María Pérez (Tequila Works), Daniel Fernandez (Gameloft Barcelona) and Angel Poulain (Under The Bed Games) They held talks about the video game industry in preparation for the weekend meeting developing projects. For the sixteenth edition, national and international companies from the video game industry have joined as sponsors, such as Devolver Digital, SHE ISnity Technologies, Crema Games, Tequila Works, Gameloft Barcelona, The Game Kitchen and Ozone Gaming. All of these companies are leaders in the international video game industry and in the technology sector.
PRIZES AND PARTICIPANTS
The official award ceremony for categories took place from the National Digital Content Pole on Sunday, July 30 at 20:00 p.m. The organization awarded the best games in these categories:
▪ Best game: End Ice.
▪ Best sound section: Expoapocalypse 92.
▪ Best game design: He can't walk anymore.
▪ Best Narrative: Last Dates, the Dino game.
▪ Best visual section: The end of the world shopping list.
▪ Special recognition from the organization to the youngest group of the gamejam, with each participant being 12 years old: 50 degrees of terral.
This year, MalagaJam Weekend 16 has had a total of 250 in-person participants, having a total of 110 women between the groups

The percentage of female participation in this video game marathon increases with each edition, demonstrating once again the importance of advertising this event as a safe and diverse space.
